Editorial policy

This page sets out how Life Calculator decides what to build, what commercial relationships exist, and what we will not publish.

#Independence

Advertising is separate from everything else. The site is free and funded by display advertising served programmatically by third-party networks. We do not know in advance which advertisers appear on any page, advertisers cannot request or influence a calculator, and no advertiser sees a page before publication. Nothing about the presence or placement of advertising affects what a tool calculates or what a page says.

No affiliate revenue. We use no affiliate links, referral links or tracked outbound links, and we are paid nothing if you open an account, apply for a loan, buy an appliance or install solar panels. Calculator sites are unusually exposed to this conflict, because a tool that produces a number can be tuned to produce a flattering one. We removed the incentive rather than trying to manage it.

No sponsored content or paid links. We do not accept sponsored posts, paid guest posts, link insertions or "partner" placements, and we decline requests to add links to existing pages for payment.

No products of our own. No courses, no memberships, no premium tier, no app, no newsletter.

#What we publish

General educational tools and explanations. Each page covers the mathematics of a specific calculation, how to obtain good inputs, how to read the output, and where the model breaks down.

We do not publish:

• Personalized advice of any kind, financial, tax, legal, medical or otherwise.
• Recommendations of specific companies, products, brands or services.
• Predictions about prices, rates, markets or the economy.
• Current rates or prices presented as facts -- these are always inputs.
• Anything requiring a professional license we do not hold.

#Accuracy

Numerical accuracy is the whole product. Every calculator is tested against an independent implementation of its documented formula before publication, and every worked example on a page is recomputed to make sure it reproduces the tool's output. Our build and testing method describes the process.

Where a page states a statutory figure -- a tax bracket, a contribution limit, a wage base -- it comes from the agency that published it, is labeled with the year it applies to, and is linked in the source list so you can check it.

#Health and fitness pages

The BMI, calorie and running pace calculators exist because the formulas behind them are widely used and badly explained. They are formula tools and general information, not medical, dietary or coaching advice. They contain no diagnosis, no prescription, no targets presented as recommended, and no claims about disease risk beyond noting where a measure is used as a population-level screening tool. Anyone with a health concern, or considering a meaningful change to diet or training, should speak to a qualified clinician.

#Corrections

We correct errors quickly and describe substantive changes on the page. See the corrections policy.

#Reader data

We do not ask for, collect or store personal information. There is no account, no newsletter, no comment system and no contact form -- the contact page lists email addresses instead. Calculator inputs never leave your browser. Third-party advertising and hosting do involve processing that is outside our control, and that is set out in full in the privacy policy and cookie policy.
