Disclaimer
The most important page on this site: what a calculated number is, what it is not, and where the limits are.
Please read this before acting on any number produced by this site.
Every result here is an estimate
Each calculator implements a simplified model of something complicated. The model is documented on the page, and so is what it leaves out. A result is an illustration intended to help you understand how a calculation behaves. It is not:
- a quote, an offer, a pre-approval or a price;
- a professional valuation, assessment or opinion;
- a prediction of what will actually happen;
- a diagnosis, a health assessment or a prescription;
- a guarantee of any outcome.
Real figures come from the institution, professional or authority you are dealing with.
We are not your adviser
Life Calculator publishes general educational tools. We are not registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, financial planners, accountants, tax preparers, enrolled agents, insurance producers, mortgage brokers, attorneys, engineers, physicians, dietitians or trainers, and we are not licensed or regulated in any of those capacities.
Nothing on this site is personalized financial, tax, legal, insurance, engineering, medical, nutritional or fitness advice, and using the site creates no professional relationship of any kind.
Financial calculators
Loan, mortgage, savings and investment tools use standard formulas but cannot replicate a lender's underwriting, a bank's fee schedule, your tax situation or the terms of a specific product. Rates and prices are values you enter, not values we publish, and they change constantly.
Investing involves risk, including loss of principal. Any return figure in a calculator is an assumption you chose, not a forecast. Growth shown is arithmetic, not a promise. Past performance does not predict future results.
Health and fitness calculators
The BMI, calorie and running pace calculators implement published formulas and nothing more. They are general information, not medical, dietary or coaching advice.
BMI is a screening ratio devised for populations; it cannot see body composition and performs differently across ages, builds and populations. Energy-requirement equations are fitted to population averages and individual needs vary substantially. Race-time projections are statistical extrapolations that say nothing about whether a given effort is appropriate for you.
Do not use these tools to diagnose anything, to set a health target, or to make a meaningful change to your diet or training on their own. If you have a health concern, a medical condition, are pregnant, are under 18, or are considering a significant change to what you eat or how you train, speak with a qualified clinician or registered dietitian who can assess your individual situation.
Home, energy and vehicle calculators
Paint quantities, room measurements, solar payback, fuel costs and EV comparisons depend heavily on conditions we cannot see: surface condition, local climate, orientation and shading, tariff structure, driving style, traffic and vehicle condition. Treat every output as a planning estimate and confirm quantities and costs with a supplier, installer or utility before committing money.
Solar payback in particular excludes financing costs, net-metering and time-of-use rules, inverter replacement and roof condition -- any of which can move the answer by years.
Work and pay calculators
Payroll rules vary by state, locality, employment classification and contract. The take-home pay estimate uses federal figures for a stated tax year with a flat state rate you supply; it ignores credits, itemized deductions, local taxes and the specifics of your W-4. Overtime, leave accrual and payout rules depend on your jurisdiction and your employer's written policy, which is the authority -- not this site.
Figures change
Where a page states a statutory figure such as a tax bracket, contribution limit or wage base, it was accurate to the cited source on the date shown on that page. These are reset regularly, often annually. Confirm any specific figure against the primary source linked on the page before relying on it.
Advertising is not endorsement
The site is free and supported by third-party display advertising selected and served by advertising networks, not by us. We do not review or endorse advertised products, and an advertisement's presence implies nothing about the advertiser. We carry no affiliate links and receive no commission from anyone.
Jurisdiction
Content is written with United States conventions, units and rules in mind. Outside the United States, tax treatment, employment law, consumer protections and measurement conventions differ, often substantially. The mathematics still holds; the specifics may not.
Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for your decisions and their consequences. To the maximum extent permitted by law we accept no liability for any loss arising from reliance on anything published here. See the terms of service.
